About Long Ashton Golf Club

Long Ashton Golf Club is established as a nine-hole course.

Additional land acquisition allows for the expansion to an 18-hole course.

The renowned partnership of Hawtree and Taylor is commissioned to redesign the course.

The club purchases the land, which was formerly part of the Ashton Court estate.

A 12-acre site is added, now one of the best practice facilities in the region. The club hosts The Martini International Tournament, won jointly by Peter Allis and Bill Large.

The Coco-Cola Young Professionals tournament takes place at Long Ashton, won by Peter Oosterhuis.

Kitrina Douglas, a product of the club's junior ranks, wins the British Ladies Amateur Championship and represents England and Europe in various tournaments.

Kitrina Douglas won her very first event as a professional.

Chris Wood, ranked as the No.1 England Amateur, wins the Silver Medal for low Amateur at the 2008 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Chris Wood played current world number 1 Dustin Johnson in his singles match in the Ryder Cup. He lost 1 down but was a very creditable performance since the Captain, Darren Clarke decided he would allow the rookies play in one match prior to the singles.  Obviously, I’ve got a lot more anecdotes from Chris’s career but I wouldn’t want to overload any write up on Chris causing an overshadowing of the other LAGC personalities.
